The summer soirée was the first ever rooftop fundraising event for Education Opportunities in Lebanon. Conceived and executed by Rachel Joubran, the successful evening was held at The Observatory Rooftop Bar and Lounge in Georgetown, Washington DC. Perfect weather and spectacular views were accompanied by Lebanese appetizers provided by Micho's Lebanese Grill, Muncheez DC, and Zikrayet Lebanese Restaurant & Lounge. 100% of proceeds from this incredible night support some of the neediest – and brightest – young students in Lebanon.
Over $5,000 was raised for the EOL scholarship fund. This supports students like Miriam, one of the at-risk girls who attended the Blessed Sacrament School and Orphanage in Beit Habbak. The school serves nearly 1300 students from surrounding communities, many of whom come from troubled families. She’s just one of many Lebanese students who graduated last year, thanks to a scholarship from EOL.
In addition to funding worthy educational projects, EOL offers scholarships to promising students who would otherwise be unable to attend high school. It’s how EOL is making a difference. It’s how education can change the world. And it all starts by reaching out to these deserving girls and boys.
Because of the incredible attendance and support for this event, more than ten students in Lebanon will get a chance to graduate and continue their education.
